Empty Art Space
w/ Antti-Juhani Manninen
Space without art. Empty business premises in a downtown shopping centre, a couple of tables, chairs and office plants. The space was provided by a city centre revitalization project which shared emptied spaces for short term commercial or other ideas.
The space was empty but open: for discussion and impulses. The event was held on the same day as the publication of the new government allocation and state expenditure cutting list, which was expected to hit, in particular, art. The evolution of the situation was being monitored in real time on site and in social media. During the event, a text reflecting the event was being generated for an art magazine: Miten lähestyä tyhjää? 1/2-lehti (in Finnish).
